There’s no question that prepackaged diets are incredibly popular today. Few of us actually have the time to research, shop for, prepare and package our low calorie or low carb foods. Sticking with diets are hard enough, so adding on the work of research and preparation, at least in my opinion, lessens the chance that you will actually stick with and have success on the diet. And, in today’s economy, very often, you’ll find that cost of these prepackaged diets are actually lower in cost than trying to buy a bunch of groceries and wasting the gas to gather them. In this article, I will review one of the more popular prepackaged diets and the one that I’ve had a great deal of success with — Medifast.

How Medifast Works: In the truest sense of the word, this is a prepackaged diet. Although there are many options from which to chose (women’s, men’s, diabetics, heart health, and metabolism boosting), all of the plans provide you with enough food to eat the company’s prepackaged foods five times per day. Once per day you will prepare your own fresh, large, healthful meal (this is called the “lean and green,” and it consist of lean protein and veggies.) So, you’re eating six times per day, but only preparing one meal (and you can make this preparation really easy by using an indoor grill and bagged vegetables.)

The prepackaged foods are generally quick and easy to prepare and assemble. Some of the shakes require a blender, but some don’t. The bars require only that you remove the wrapper, but some of the other foods, like the eggs and oatmeal, require only minimal assembly.

Medifast Food Choices And Taste: There are over 70 food choices with this diet. Examples are the shakes and bars, puddings and cappuccinos, chili and stews, crackers and chips, fruit drinks and hot chocolates, etc. The taste for the most part is pretty good and better than I expected. And, you can make it even better by adding fat free syrups, whipped creams, sour cream, cheese, humus, etc. I really like to use the pudding as a base for recipes that allow you to make muffins and cookies.

How Ketosis And A Low Amount Of Carbohydrates Make This Diet Very Effective: Many people don’t realize this, but this is technically a low carb diet. All of the foods are low in calories and high in protein. This works to force your body into a metabolic state called ketosis. Since you are depriving it of carbs that it would usually burn for energy, it instead has to turn on stored fat which in turn will really ramp up your metabolism and weight loss.

I believe that this is why Medifast works so well and is so effective. In essence, it works a lot like the South Beach or Atkins diet, but you don’t have to eat meat or eggs all of the time. As a result, many people see pretty quick and dramatic results as long as they follow the instructions to a reasonable degree.

Cost: This diet’s cost is pretty typical of a prepackaged diet. It’s around $8 – $10 per day and this can be better with coupons, specials and discounts that are very frequently offered. When you think about it, with the cost of groceries and gas today, this may actually be less than you spend on groceries.

Bottom Line: At the end of the day, my review of Medifast is positive. It’s a very effective diet, the food is pretty decent tasting, and it’s very convenient and easy to follow. They aren’t any calories to count, or many choices to make. You just mostly eat the foods they give you, and you’re on your way.

The nice thing about using a pre-packaged diet program is that it removes any “thinking” on the part of the dieter…which while may sound a bit silly, but is actually a huge part of most success stories! Simply stated, the Medifast provides it’s members with a wide variety of over 60 potential meal replacement bars, shakes, soups and more from which to choose. Your job? Simply to pick what you want to eat, and when..:-) All Medifast dieters are encouraged to follow the 5 and 1 plan, which is a simple and straightforward plan of 5 meal replacement selections and ONE lean and green dinner per day. Just like it sounds, the meal is going to be a lean protein like chicken, select cuts of beef, or fish. (which is my favorite meal as I’m a HUGE fan of Tuna steaks and Salmon Fillets!)

It’s also important to remember that YOU prepare this meal, it is the single item that you are responsible for, although there are obviously an extensive selection of recipes and preparation suggestions provided for all. Medifast is tasty…and dummy simple for most of us to follow, which unquestionably has contributed to it’s huge success around the globe!

Since I lost a lot of weight Medifast, ask me about my diet plan for the whole time. People want to know what it tastes like Medifast, just like I lost all the weight, and basically what a typical day of the program is similar. Surprisingly, I have a question a lot so they are able to eat anything, but shakes it. It seems that many people are under the mistaken belief that Medifast is a liquid diet.

I'm not completely sure if this idea comes from. Yes, shakesMedifast is an option for a meal. The shakes are tasty and filling and I can certainly understand why someone would want to consume the shakes as a regular part of the program. However, the majority on the five most popular Medifast, plus a plan. On this level, you have a great variety of foods, liquids and solids, to choose from. You are also encouraged to eat a regular, more substantial "lean and green meal" per day.

I suppose that someone could really enjoy the shakes and chose to eat only one meal shakes and then lean and green. However, I am sure that this method will get old fast.

In researching this article, I learned that there are some extremely obese individuals who had repeatedly failed on a solid diet and then decided to follow a liquid diet Medifast essentially consuming between 400 and 800 calories a day, drinking only shakes. They were going to do this for three months and then return to a solid> Diet.

I could see where you might think that this liquid diet would result in dramatic, but I'm living proof that using Medifast as expected also produces dramatic results and should be healthy for my body just shakes consuming.

In short, Medifast is extremely effective as designed. If you follow the program, you lose weight. There is absolutely no need to get extreme and consume only liquids. Plus, if you add a small amount ofmovement or exercise to the diet, the results will be even faster. I am living proof that you absolutely can eat solid foods Medifast and still have very dramatic, yet safe weight loss.

There is no doubt that the prepackaged diets are incredibly popular today. Few of us actually have time to research, shop, prepare and package our low-calorie or low carb foods. Attack with diets are hard enough, then add the research and preparation, at least in my opinion, reduces the chance that you actually attack with success and are on a diet. And, in today's economy, very often, we find that costs of these diets are actually lower pre -at the cost of trying to buy a bunch of food and wasting the gas to collect. This article will review one of the most popular diets, prepackaged and what I have had great success with – Medifast.

Medifast How it works: In the true sense of the word, this is a canned diet. Although there are many options to choose from (women, men, diabetics, heart health, and stimulate the metabolism), all plans to offer sufficienteat junk food society, five times a day. Once a day you can prepare your new, big, healthy meal (this is called the "lean and green", and consists of lean protein and vegetables.) So, you're eating six times a day, but only to prepare a meal ( and you can make this preparation very simple using a grid and indoor vegetables in bags.)

Prepackaged foodstuffs are generally fast and easy to prepare and assemble. Some shakes require a blender, butsome do not. The bars need only to remove the wrapping, but some of the other foods, like eggs and oatmeal, they require only minimal assembly.

Medifast food choices and tastes: there are over 70 food choices with this diet. Examples are the shakes and bars, pudding and cappuccino, chili and stews, crackers and chips, fruit drinks and hot chocolate, etc. The taste for most is pretty good and better than I expected. And, you can do even betterwith the addition of free fatty syrups, creams, cream, sour cream, cheese, humus, etc. I like to use as the basis for the pudding recipes that you can make muffins and cookies.

How Ketosis and a low amount of carbohydrates Make this diet very effective: Many people do not realize it, but this is technically a low carb diet. All foods are low in calories and rich in protein. This works to force your body into a metabolic state called ketosis. Sinceare deprived of carbohydrates that are usually burned for energy, is instead to activate the stored fat, which in turn will really be down your metabolism and weight loss.

I think this is why Medifast works so well, and is so effective. In essence, it works a bit 'like the South Beach or Atkins diet, but do not eat meat or eggs of all time. As a result, many people see results fairly quickly and dramatically as long as they follow the instructions to a reasonabledegree.

Cost: This diet 's cost is fairly typical of a prepackaged diet. E 'of about $ 8 – $ 10 per day and this can be better with coupons, special offers and discounts are often offered. When you think about it, with the cost of expenditure and gas today, this may actually be less than we spend on groceries.

Bottom Line: At the end of the day, my review of the Medifast is positive. It 'a very effective diet, the food ispretty decent tasting, and is very convenient and easy to follow. Are no calories to count, or many choices to make. Mostly just eat the foods that give you, and you're on the right track.

I want to answer this question in two ways. First, I want to share my experience with it and then I want to share with you the results of clinical trials that evaluated the effectiveness of the diet so that you can decide for themselves whether this diet might work for you.

But first, a brief review of my experience and success:

Medifast has worked for me: I must disclose that I was on tons of diets in my life (Atkins, Weight Watchers, South Beach,Mediterranean, etc., etc.) and no one really worked for me in the long term the way it has. I've been on this diet since last fall and have dropped a considerable amount of weight, and were able to keep it off. I hit a plateau a few, but never slowed down a lot and it was constant. I think the reason why this diet works so well because of a couple of reasons, as follows.

First, it is more convenient and you get to eat six times a day, so you do not feel hungry as youmight suspect.

Secondly, the plan is very convenient. The food is mostly for you, it is very easy to assemble, tastes decent, and is basically Grab and go. You do not have to count calories or points of loot.

Finally, this diet is very rich in protein that tricks your body to burn fat it's own. This contributes to quick results for most of the people that makes the diet easier to follow. Obviously, if you are seeing positive results, there will be motivated totakes to do even more.

Clinical Studies: There were a couple of huge clinical trials that evaluated the effectiveness of Medifast really is and how it actually works. I'll discuss two of the most popular below.

The John Hopkins Obesity Study: Doctors at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine conducted a study in which 185 used Medifast diet for weight loss for 16 weeks (four months). The males in the study lost an average of about67 pounds, while women in the study lost an average of about 47 pounds. Even more impressive is the fact that a significant reduction in blood pressure and dietary cholesterol was seen – so much so that over 90% of hypertensive patients had normal blood pressure values at the end.

Abetes John Hopkins Study: In this study (including at John Hopkins), the researchers looked at 112 overweight or obese people with type 2 diabetes, 86 weeks. TheMedifast dieters have been placed under or on the ADA (American Diabetic Association) diet. Medifast Diet that were lost twice the weight than people on the ADA diet and stuck with the diet and completed the study than twice as often. And they were more likely to decrease significantly in all or done away with their diabetes medication.

The researchers noted that the plans for replacement of a meal is easier to follow the diet and required less effort compared to ADAdiet.

Of course, even though both of these studies are convincing, I know first hand that the experience you have with this diet and how it works for you will depend on your going to stick with it and consume as designed.

Still, I think from my experience and know many people who have had success on this weight loss program, which is well designed to be convenient, easy to follow, and really work and work fast, if followed, ascharge.

I lost a lot 'of weight on this diet and have been on it for a while'. I can not say how many people question my dramatic results, asking questions like, "you're starving yourself?", "Is it safe to lose weight so much?" Or "is really healthy?" Now, I am not a doctor but I do regularly see one, and I can share with you what he told me and what my experience has been on this diet. I would also like to expel a lot of myths and misconceptionsI often have the experience of people who are just misinformed.

Medifast how it works and why I think it is safe for those who use it as a given: When I started this diet, my mother and girlfriends are mortified that I was going on a hunger "or liquid diet alone. Let me say right up front that I I do not drink shakes all day and I am absolutely starving. Shakes have a choice on this diet – not the only one. I like a lot, butEven so, I only eat a couple a day at most. There are more than 75 foods on this plan – such as eggs, chili, stew, soup, oatmeal, etc., you eat six times a day. In one of these six meals, you eat a healthy meal that is high in protein and fresh vegetables that are made by themselves.

The foods are rich in protein and low in calories. They are prepackaged, but you are required to prepare the meal in the same way that you are getting the variety of fresh foods and nutrientsthat your body needs. eat so often keeps the metabolism and ensures you have enough. But to say that goes back to 2,800 calories a day, a little more than a thousand takes some adjustment, but the diet was designed both to give your body what it needs and encourage it to burn fat is just (because of the state of proteins).

I was not nearly as hungry as I was afraid and I never felt bad. But I think there is a small subset of people who completely dothis and not follow the diet, as expected. less than six meals provided food, drink shakes himself, or skipping a meal of lean and green are not intelligent ideas. And, taking these freedoms are what the test leads to misunderstandings on this diet. I have never understood why people do this. Medifast works so well and is very effective if you follow the directions and eat a variety of food choices that are given. There is no need to obtainmore drastic than that.

My medical background and Medifast: Before you enter my medical situation, I would like to talk about this diet, this has been designed by doctors and was tested / studied at John Hopkins University. During this study, it was found that people lost more weight on Medifast and respected their diet almost double what the people on the ADA (American Dietetic Association) low carb diet. There are many reasons, probablythis, but the study was encouraging for me.

Before I started this diet, I was borderline with diabetes, had high blood pressure and suffered from high cholesterol. My doctor threatened me with the drug of which I am too young. None of these medical conditions are a problem for me anymore. My blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol and are now within normal limits. My doctor is very encouraging.

I believe that Medifast is much safer for me thatallow me to continue the journey over bad habits and poor health (and much better alternative to gastric bypass.) I am always very careful to follow the plan to the letter and I have always shared my intentions with my doctor . I firmly believe that unless we take drastic cuts in the short and use the food as it was designed and then go to the maintenance of the plan once you've reached a reasonable target and healthy weight loss, you can safely lose a proper andhealthy amount of weight on this diet.
